Sci Fi Lovin

So, I've been on a Sci Fi kick recently.  I've discovered that I need me some rough and tumble Science Fiction every once in a while.  You know, to balance out the princesses and unicorns.

I'm reading two Sci Fi books right now:

Across the Universe  by Beth Revis, which came out yesterday by-the-by.  You should really go pick it up, I'm halfway through and loving it!

And Cassastar by Alex J Cavanaugh, who is one spectacular blogger and all around awesome guy.  It's an adult novel so if you want something that's not a YA, but reads a little like one, I suggest this one!

Also, Hubs and I are watching the Family Guy Star Wars spoof, which is quite hilarious considering we watched the 1st and 2nd Star Wars (in which I mean 4 and 5 I guess...) on Christmas.  We don't watch Family Guy, but a friend loaned it to us and I have to say there are some really funny bits.

And then, of course, I had to watch the Back to the Future Marathon that was on every day on AMC during the week after Christmas, even though I own two copies of each movie.

PLUS the movie Serenity (made from the tv show Firefly which was also on tv recently) by Joss Whedon.  Brilliant show with wonderful acting.  They're space cowboys...'nuff said.  If you haven't picked them up, you should really watch them.

Anyway, so that's what I've been into lately.  How about you?  What kick have you been on recently?

I don't read a ton of science fiction. But that's awesome that you do.

I really need to watch Firefly--I've heard such amazing things about it! And I can't wait to pick up my copy of Across the Universe!

Ooo, Back to the Future and Firefly, 2 of my faves. I've heard of that CassaStar book too, and it's on my list to read. And Across the Universe too.

Hey, I've passed on an award to you today. Congrats! Come by to fetch/save the image to post on your blog:

LOL, I've been on a SciFi kick lately too. I just finished _Feed_ by MT Anderson (dystopian with some space travel) and I'm currently reading _Ender's Game_ by Orson Scott Card. I blame watching the indie film _Moon_ for stirring up my old love for SciFi, which I haven't read much in oh, 15 years.

Firefly is awesome, and if you like it, you'll love the new Dr. Who. It's also really fun and not overly serious.

Merp...Firefly! My heart still aches from the loss!! ONE SEASON!? I'm still in shock too.

I have come around to sci fi novels. I love movies and shows but never much of a reader...until now! Great list of awesome Abby!

That's the second time I've heard Cassastar is good, so I just downloaded it. :)

I've been on a big YA kick lately, especially fantasy. I just finished Wings and Spells by Aprilynne Pike, both great!

I just started rewatching Firefly, so great! Sci fi always good times and a nice escape from reality. :)

Also, Back to the Future = greatest trilogy ever. I watched that same special on AMC. :)

Hi
Love Back to the future, got the trilogy at Christmas!
I love Sci fi, but have never seen Firefly.

I read the first chapter of Accross the Universe on Amazon, it sounds great, hoping it's out soon in the UK.

I'm going crazy with Netflix at the moment. The instant queue? Oh. My. I'm losing HOURS. And funny you should mention Serenity. I'm rewatching the Firefly series and have Serenity right behind it!

I'm pretty much always into Sci/Fi and fantasy. :)

I'm not a huge sci fi reader, but then I've never been much of a paranormal reader, either, and just finished two and almost done another (no sparkly vampires in my TBR pile yet), trying to branch out in my reading. I do watch more sci fi movies and tv, though. Wasn't into Firefly or Serenity back in the day but my sister loved it and my hubby did, too. I heart Nathan Fillian so I'm sure I'll get around to it sooner or later. :) Hubby loves Family Guy so I end up seeing that a lot, but haven't seen the Star Wars FG yet!

My husband is definitely the sci-fi guy. Knows it all (yes, even Castle, er, I mean Firefly.) I won Across the Universe, though, and was supposed to receive it today, so I'm really mad that half the universe is covered in snow and I won't get it until tomorrow (and I have to work late!!). It sounds great - yay!!

I adore Firefly and Serenity!

Also, I MUST get my hands on a copy of Across the Universe. Everyone is reading it right now and I feel so left out!

I really want to watch firefly and serenity! Also, I've been on the fence about Across The Universe so when you finish it could you let me know your final verdict? Thank you!

Sci Fi sounds like fun. I've been reading a lot of dystopian stuff over the last few months, so I'm looking forward to getting my copy of Across the Universe, too!
