Word Count Wednesday

I've decided to dedicate Wednesdays in November to word count!  I'll post my updated word count, and you all do the same!  We can cheer each other on.  I won't get up to 50k though, because I don't need that much to finish my WIP.  And if I do, my crit partners have my permission to beat me over the head with my future novel, because it would be WAY too long (only if they appear in a DeLorean).

I'm at 1431 words (80,988 total for my WIP).

(So I didn't write any yesterday, but I can't help it if I was glued to Anderson Cooper's lovely white hair all night)

Also, please consider donating to NaNo if you are participating- I am going to do that today.  They run on donations only, so anything you can spare will help NaNo be even better in years to come.

Here is a great anti-NaNo pep talk from Maggie Stiefvater.  She makes some really great points, and even though I feel like I could agree, I think NaNo is fun and brings writers together.  I think it will help push me to sit down and write, rather than watch 5 episodes of House Hunters back-to-back.

So what's your word count?  Even if you aren't doing NaNo, what's your word count on your current WIP?

2nd WIP is at 39,002. Not working on it or anything right now but just wanted to contribute something to this wonderful post!

And yes. I will have to beat you for 50,000 more words. All the while chanting "too long! too long Abby!" Good luck today on your NaNo work!!

Word count on the current WIP is about 78K. I'm doing cleaning for NaNo instead of writing--my house really needs it. I don't think I'm the kind of writer to work well in the rush of getting 50K out in a hurry.

My new WIP is still in notebook form so I'm not sure of word count. One of these days I will start typing her out!

Colene- great job on your second WIP!

lotusgirl- Sweet wordcout- I don't work well like that either. I think it would all be a bunch of gibberish if I tried to crank out 50k in a month

Anne- awesome! I would never be able to write it all out!

So far, I have 10117 since NaNo started. I haven't started writing yet today.

I'm not sure what the total count on my WIP is yet.

I'm going to go read the anti-nano pep talk.

I like word-count wednesdays. Good job on your wordcount!

How many words do you need to finish your WIP?

I'm not doing Nano. Yesterday I reached the halfway point of my WIP-yay! I enjoyed reading your daily schedules(previous post) because I, too, wonder how all of these bloggers manage everything: writing, critiquing, reading (actual books), posting blogs AND keeping up with all the great blogs posted. (yikes. I just stressed myself out.) Thanks for your posts, though, cuz we like visiting you and seeing what you have to say. In fact, we have 2 blog awards posted for you today back at our blog. christy

My word count is a zero because I'm still outlining! Congrats on your progress. And you forgot to mention Anderson's ice blue eyes...

Melissa- Wow, 10117?? That's crazy! I wish I had the time to sit and write that much! I'ts hard to tell how many words I need to be done, but I could estimate maybe 15k? It's so hard to tell though because the climax and denouement aren't fully plotted out.

Erica and Christy- halfwya point yay! For me, anything that comes after that was SO hard! thanks for the awards!

Lydia- still outlining is great. And it is wordcount to me- you are contributing to your novel. oooh, yes Mr cooper's eyes are to die for.

Great post Abby! I am excited to keep hearing about your word count. My NaNoWriMo project is up to 5385 words and my WIP is at 29k. I was glad to see you posted Maggie's anti-NaNoWriMo peptalk, and I too agree with a lot of what she said. But at least for me this project has been very helpful.

My WIP is at 22k, and I've got like...5k? 6k? Since the start of Nano. I'm not really following Nano though so much as I just want to get done this month.

Bahahaha that Anderson Cooper... such a hunk!

I'm at 31K for NaNo, and working on revisions for my 86K novel.

I'll skip the anti-NaNo talk - don't need discouragement! I'm over 4500 words at the moment, but I'm a slow and deliberate writer.

I'm at 6000 for NaNo - and while I understand the anti-NaNo ideas - for me, the first year I did it, I finished my first book. It gave me the support, encouragement, and dedication to actually sit down every day and write. Maybe the words weren't ALL good, but the idea was great.

Anderson is distracting. I can concur on that!! Right now I am editing one MS and working on the second (12,389 out of 90,000). I am also hosting another short story every Wednesday on my blog. I add around 300 words.

Best wishes and good luck!
