Kicking my Crit Partner's Butt

One of my crit partners, Andy Thompson said I came to him in a dream the other night and literally beat him over the head with his future published book telling him to WRITE WRITE WRITE! (click on his name- he blogged about it!)  I told him it was my future self coming back from the future to tell him to write more.  I think Michael J Fox was with me too...in the DeLorean.

Oh wait, wrong dream- okay here we go:

(I so hope he didn't picture me as one of the Sanderson sisters- doesn't his book look awesome though?)

I'm so glad I can have such an impact on my crit partners!  They love me so much that they dream about me beating them to a pulp with their future novels.  I feel so special.  No seriously, I do.  I can't really abuse them in real life, so coming to them in a dream is the next best thing (or from the future).

I am so grateful I have my crit partners.  Andy and Colene are so encouraging and help me get through this crazy world of writing.  They each bring their own perspective and it's cool to see what they have to say about my work.  We can lament together about our anxieties about the publishing world, and we can relate and feel connected.  I can talk to Hubsies until he's blue in the face about my work and fears about being published, but it's different when you talk to someone going through the same thing.

And I know that they'd extend the same love and courtesy and beat me over the head with my future novel if I needed it.  And boy, do I need it sometimes.

And then, (because everything can be related to Back To The Future), I'll write a book about it, and it'll become a bestseller.

Well, you gotta do what you gotta do, if you're going to be a good CP. If that means developing a new means of time travel and using it to come back and issue threats in dreams, well... all part of a day's work, right?

Good CPs are a blessing--obviously you have a huge influence on yours!

Haha that's too funny. You must be a great CP!

My test readers haunted me enough in my waking hours!

I totally agree about the husband blue in the face thing. They just can't relate like fellow writers.

I love my CP because they can be ruthless! Ouch. But it's all good, it's all good.

I don't know what I would do without my CPs. One especially! They help me work through things and encourage me when I'm down. They rock!! I'm glad you have the same. The Hubster will listen to me, but he's not such a big believer in my end goal of publishing. He thinks it's great that I write but getting published doesn't happen to "people like us" (whatever that means) so it's good to have people who believe all the way through to the end goal!

That's so cool! You know you've widdled your way into someone's subconscious when they are dreaming of you!

I wish I had CP's every time I hear people go on about how amazing they are. Sigh.

Ha! This was hilarious. Either you're invading someone's dreams or back from the future: ) I wish I had a crit partner like that.

Abby, Great post. Aren't Crit groups great? I absolutely couldn't do this without mine. So is yours an online group?

Abby you are the best. I have gotten in some writing this week so I will definately have some for you soon. I just wish you had come back in the DeLorean!

Sweet, Andy. I know, I need a DeLorean.

Yay for great CPs! I truly love mine.
But I don't think I've yelled at them in their dreams yet. But I totes would if I could do it in a DeLorean.

Happy Halloween!
