Mawwiage...and Love

Hello all you love birds out there.  If you haven't noticed, today is the big V-day.  No, not Vampire Awareness Day, but Valentines Day.

If you are like the hubs and myself, you probably aren't going to do the whole card/candy/flowers thing.  Because seriously, every day is Valentine's Day for us (insert sickeningly sweet "awwwwwwww")

Waiting in line for a table for hours, and plunking down large sums of money for flowers that die in a week is not really my thing**.  Who needs romance when you have take-out chinese and an episode of Castle to watch?  Hubs figured out long ago that the key to my heart is not chocolate, (oh wait, actually, that kinda is) but a night in on the couch, in our jammies, watching Ancient Aliens.

**BUT if you are a teen and dating someone- TOTALLY different story.  It's like, required for your boyfriend to get you something for Valentines Day.  If he doesn't, you have my permission to dump his butt.

If you're married... Meh.  As long as you do Vday type stuff year 'round, I don't think it's a big deal not to celebrate it on the actual day.  Now, if hubs never gets you anything except on Vday?  Then by all means, celebrate the love till the break of dawn.

But seriously guys, just celebrate it all the time.  Send your wifey some flowers at work in August.  Give your hubs a back massage in March.  Go on a date (without your kids ;p)  Show your spouse that you love him/her all year round.  Trust me, it works SO much better that way.

Tell me friends, do you celebrate the big Vday?  What are your plans for today?

P.S. Don't worry, we totally give something to Little Monster on Vday.  It's much more fun watching her face when she opens little presents.

P.P.S. and a BIG thank you to The Blogger Formerly Known As for the Stylish Blogger award!

AND a big Happy LOVE Day to all my bloggy lovey friends out there.  You truly make my days special!

So cute! Takeout and TV is always one of my favorite "dates." And I love your note to teenagers!

We do things on Valentine's Day. My hubby sends me flowers. I like that kind of thing, and tonight we'll go out to dinner. Hey, Castle doesn't come on till 10:00 here, so there's plenty of time. We do a lot of that sort of thing through the year, but it's nice to follow the routine on Valentine's Day.

No big plans. I know I should have some but I've been kind of lazy about them.

I'm with you. I hate this day because when you're with someone, things should happen more than once a year.

Tot's agree! The hubs and I might go eat Mexican tomorrow night, but really, it's just an excuse to go out to eat. ;) Happy V Day!

This year his gift to me is watching a couple of episodes of Doctor Who (I'm still trying to prove to him that he'd like the show if he'd let himself) and for me to go out and see a guy movie with him next weekend. We actually try to avoid going out on V day as much as possible because all the people drive us crazy!

I second your advice to teenagers. That's the time of your life when you should have the goofy over the top celebrations of the day!

I share your sentiments! Waiting an hour for a table doesn't put me in the mood. And dig the Princess Bride reference.

Haha, "mawwiage." I even know what you're talking about. :) Happy Valentine's Day to you! My hubby, mom, and stepdad and I are all going out to lunch today; yum!

Date... without the kids... Whats that? :)

My hubby and I don't really have plans for today. We will most likely end the day cuddling as we watch a Netflix streaming movie, but that's about as far as it goes. We don't need V-Day to say I love you. Though its always a nice boost

Happy hearts day to you too!

I totally agree with you. I'd rather do nothing on valentines day (except watch Castle because it's monday and Castle is basically the best show ever!) but have the rest of the year filled with random awesomeness. My mom actually hates valentines day because it was the only day of the year my dad was nice to her (He was a jerk) and I guess her feelings sort of trickled down and diluted in me - don't hate it but I'd rather all around awesomeness and happiness.

Princess Bride reference in the title for the win!

Yay for The Princess Bride!! And that's an adorable photo of you two ~ :) I agree - especially when you're married, the random, spontaneous stuff is so much better. And the restaurants around me are kind of a joke to get in to on a regular day (I swear, no one cooks anymore!). Hope you have fun kicking back in your pjs tonight!

Love the Princess Bride line. I agree, the good stuff shouldn't be put offf for one day. Happiness ought not to be scrimped and saved.

I love the idea of a national vampire awareness day. That's amazing.

Happy V day to you. We stayed at home. I cooked dinner and my husband bought me flowers and candy.

We do dinner out at our favorite restaurant on the 13th every year to avoid the rush. This year I found a coffee mug that says "REAL MEN LIKE CATS" and filled it with his favorite candies. Okay, his AND mine. So he'll get candy hearts with dark chocolate DOVE candies. :-)

I'D LOVE it to be Vampire Awareness Day!

And I love Ancient Aliens!! :)

We went to lunch on a gift card we had lying around! FREE! No cards, no flowers... we aren't big spenders (unless you could the MacBook we had to buy today because hub's computer died!!)

Happy Valentine's Day! :)

Nope, no V-Day for us either. It just isn't a big deal and why spend money on gifts? We do things throughout the year and seriously everywhere is packed so it's annoying to go anywhere! We're getting BOGO Qdoba and I'll be working on homework-and maybe squeeze some Buffy in there or something!:)

You guys are sweet! Me and hubby aren't doing anything Valentinesy tonight either. Huzzah Castle and chocolate!

My first date with my hubby was on Feb 11 (16 yrs ago!) so we celebrate First Date Day instead.... but it's just our own little thing. We don't do much in the way of gifts (except some V-Day stuff for the kids, cause that's totally fun) but like you I am lucky enough to have a hubby who is thoughtful and sweet all year round. :) Yay for awesome hubbies!

ps - Castle and Chinese, yay!

Awwww! Too cute!

We don't do anything either because we're boring marrieds, but, like you said, it's no big deal. (Oh, I did get flowers from him though... swoon).

Belated V day wishes to you too....Prince Charming and I are not big on celebrating love on a single day...but it's fun all the same...

News flash...Ancient Aliens are seen stalking Vampires during their special night of awareness. It gives new meaning to the phrase, "Beam me up Scotty." LOL

Awww, the picture is cute. :)
My husband totally spoils me year round, but he does buy me a lot of gifts for Vday and he stayed home from work, grocery shopped and made daughter and I a gourmet filet mignon dinner with dark chocolate covered strawberries for dessert. :) I am blessed.

But, I agree. We never go out to dinner for Vday...TOO crowded.

I love that you stayed home in PJ's and watched Castle. Perfection. :)
